Prepare for your Conversation

Before your first coaching conversation, we encourage you to prepare for your overall season of coaching by working through the first section of this journal.

Set aside some time to process these questions and reflect on the responses that arise.

Who do you really want to become?

Make a list of what you want from your life at work, at home and in the community. Coaching fosters the realization of extraordinary results when you have a clear vision and goals.

  • At work. I want to become: ______________________.
  • At home, I want to become: ______________________.
  • In my community, I want to become: ______________________.


Working with a professional coach is a powerful way to grow. Through the process, you will discover new parts of yourself and adjust goals to match who you have found you really are. We encourage you to be open to redesigning the parts of your to serve your pursuit of becoming.

You may need to make the following adjustments:

  • Raise your personal standards.
  • Redesign how you spend your time.
  • Revisit the assumptions and decisions you’ve made.
  • Identify comfort zones in which you are stuck.
  • Experiment with new ideas.

Look again at that list.

  1. Put a star beside the items that sound difficult.
  2. Put a checkmark beside the ones you have mastered.
  3. Pause to look at the ones you didn’t mark. How would you categorize those for yourself?
